The Contest
The University Libraries at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro held a decorating contest on Halloween, October 31, 2007. This website is dedicated to the winning entry of the contest: Teddy Bear Picnic by the Technical Services Department and Cheryl Cross from the ERIT Department .
The original email announcement for the contest can be found here .
We took collaboratory 274a , decorated it and handed out candy during the hours of noon to 2:00pm. Below are examples of the signs we printed, colored, and hung at our desks or offices advertising the event:

The Theme
We studied the song and book "The Teddy Bears' Picnic" by Jimmy Kennedy. Then we asked the question: if teddy bears really did come to life and had a picnic in the woods, what would they eat?

The Menu
Although not pictured here, a menu was written on the white board on the left wall of the collaboratory.

The Monitor

Teddy Bears Picnic
As shown in the pictures above, the large monitor is the center of the room, and as such, we felt that it needed something on the screen. We also wanted to have the "Teddy Bears' Picnic" song being played in the background. We were very fortunate in finding this short film, which was set to loop for the entire two hours. The film was created by Britannica Dreams Productions, with music performed by Gilbert Russell.

The Credits

Candy

We had a bowl of candy set up at our candy stand as well as a "human in disguise" wearing a bear mask and black monk's robes who handed out candy to students and passersby.
